The Art of Shaving is a United States-based brand and specialty retailer of high-end men's shaving and skin care accessories. The first store was founded by Eric Malka and Myriam Zaoui in Manhattan in 1996.[1]
The store was highly successful and soon thereafter a second shop on Madison Avenue was opened and developed a complete line of natural shaving products.[2] The Art of Shaving has become the best-selling men’s brand at high-end department stores. Their own stores can be found in 17 locations across the country, with 10 openings achieved in 2007.[3]
Prior to being acquired by Procter & Gamble, the company had entered into numerous partnerships and marketing agreements with razor company Gillette, and some The Art of Shaving franchises are Gillette-owned.[4]
Procter & Gamble, owner of the Gillette brand, purchased The Art of Shaving in 2009.
